Chelsea fans angry as Eden Hazard drop to bench against stoke amid negotiations

CHELSEA fans were not impressed with Antonio Conte when his team was announced against Stoke.

The Blues boss decided to name key men Eden Hazard, Cesc Fabregas and Andreas Christensen on the bench for the clash at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea fans were not impressed with the decision to name Eden Hazard on the bench
With the Stoke game the club's fourth in ten days, Conte would be forgiven for resting his main men - especially with Chelsea playing at Arsenal on Wednesday.

But the Hazard situation is slightly more complicated.

The Belgian superstar is currently locked in contract talks with the Blues.

Talks have not been the smoothest, with Hazard rejecting an offer last week, revealed his father Thierry.

But with Arsenal in midweek some called for calm, stating Hazard needed to be rested
He said: "Eden has refused a contract extension to be able, if necessary, to follow interest from Real Madrid."

Los Blancos continue to circle the 26-year-old, who has been named Chelsea's player of the year three times, and have been linked with a move for the last couple of years.

Antonio Conte was blasted by fans over the decision

It didn't matter - as Chelsea scored three within 25 minutes against Stoke
It may all be a negotiating tactic, but the west London club are now considering making Hazard the highest-paid player in the Premier League to fight off interest from the Spanish giants.

Paul Pogba is currently the highest earner in the Prem on £200,000-a-week - but Chelsea are apparently willing to go up to £300,000-a-week for Hazard.

Conte would not be drawn on the speculation on Friday, saying: "My answer is always the same.

"This is a private conversation between the club, the player and his agent."

But fans were not impressed with the decision to drop him - some thinking he was making a point amidst the exit talk.

Its no coincidence that Hazard is dropped.
Looks like there is SOME truth to Hazard rumours.
Boss is making a point.

Genius decision by Conte to bench Hazard.

Fanboys were crying before the game, but they fail to realize that key players need a rest with our schedule.

We will now have a fully charged Hazard against Arsenal midweek.

On a positive note, we play Arsenal next so Hazard needed much deserved rest.

I know hazard is sure to be fatigued over this period. He’s been taking a beating and working so hard in each match. Hopefully he requested his own benching? Arsenal is coming up too

It didn't appear to matter, however, with Chelsea scoring three past hapless a Stoke within 25 minutes.

Antonio Rudiger scored a header from a Willian free-kick, before Danny Drinkwater scored his first goal for the Blues with a lovely dipping volley.

Pedro then scored a curling effort.
